WeWork launches WeWork for Good initiative to support members and local communities during COVID-19

Office space to be contributed to organizations and member companies on the front lines of the COVID-19 response and relief efforts

WeWork today announced the launch of WeWork for Good, an initiative that utilizes WeWork’s global physical platform to support the organizations that are on the front lines of the COVID-19 response and relief efforts.

“While the world navigates through the challenges and uncertainties brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic, WeWork remains committed to supporting our member companies, local government agencies and nonprofit organizations that are working tirelessly to provide resources to those in need,” said Sandeep Mathrani, WeWork Chief Executive Officer. “I am inspired to see our employees, members, and global communities come together to find new ways to support one another.”

As the global leader in space-as-a-service with 739 locations across 140 cities and 37 countries as of 2019 fourth-quarter close, WeWork is uniquely positioned to open our doors to government entities and nonprofit organizations and provide them with the workspace and resources they need to better support our community during this critical time.

Beginning in April, the WeWork for Good initiative will contribute office space to eligible organizations playing an active role in supporting the public health response including existing government and nonprofit WeWork members, as well as non-members in need. WeWork is thrilled to have already included a number of organizations, both existing members and non-members, as part of this initiative:

  • AP-HP, the trust which operates hospitals in Paris, France, reached out to WeWork in Paris to host part of their new crisis call centre: Covidom, a communication platform for confirmed and suspected cases of COVID-19. On WeWork for Good, Nicolas Robin, Project Manager at Covidom, said: “WeWork was the perfect solution to scale our project, with easy to use and fully equipped space that allows us to be in the best conditions to help.”
  • Washington D.C. Member Nate Mook, CEO of World Central Kitchen, said: “World Central Kitchen is a nonprofit team of food first responders that’s mobilizing around the world, along with the restaurant community, to feed millions of our vulnerable neighbors and frontline medical workers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a massive effort requiring incredibly complex logistics and we thank WeWork for providing space for our emergency command center and a community of resources from their Food Labs network to support our global response.”
  • Manchester Member, Matthew Reed, Chief Executive of Marie Curie, said: “At Marie Curie, we care for people with terminal illnesses in their homes or at our hospices and the need for our services is greater than ever. I want to thank WeWork for their support. Their donation will ease a little of the pressure on us at this unprecedented time and enable us to continue to provide care to people who are dying and their loved ones.”
  • Oakland Member Nora LaTorre, CEO of Eat Real, said: “Being part of WeWork for Good means we can focus on our COVID-19 response efforts. With WeWork’s support, our nonprofit is providing health safety tools and resources for essential workers across the United States and especially workers who continue to serve food to families via school food access points. This program helps us increase real food access and knowledge for families so they can stay healthy at home. We love being a member of the WeWork community.”

WeWork has launched a public-facing website to solicit requests from governments and nonprofits from impacted communities to request our space to support COVID-19 responses. For more information, visit us at we.co/weworkforgood

In addition, at WeWork, our members have access to a community that includes third-party service providers. WeWork is pleased to announce that we are connecting our U.S.-based members with Kabbage, a company that provides small business cash flow management solutions. Kabbage is promoting Paycheck Protection Program loans that will be available soon through the federal government’s Small Business Administration (SBA). Eligible WeWork members seeking more information about the SBA program should visit kabbage.com/covid-relief and review the Terms and Conditions as it relates to third-party service providers.*
