Calling Washington, DC “one of the fastest growing hubs for tech innovation,” the cofounders of Flatiron School celebrated the launch of its first campus in a WeWork. It’s also the coding academy’s first location outside of New York City.
Based at WeWork White House, Flatiron School will offer two courses that are open to everyone: a 15-week software engineering immersion and a 10-week intro to front-end web development. Courses will begin in March.
“It’s the perfect fit as we continue to expand our on-campus offerings,” said Flatiron School cofounder Adam Enbar. “Flatiron School is excited to see where our growth takes us as we continue to empower students with the skills they need to build fulfilling careers.”
Enbar spoke Thursday night at a launch party held at WeWork White House. More than 200 people turned out for the event, which included a lively panel discussion with local tech leaders, including Elizabeth Lindsey of Byte Back (a winner in the Creator Awards Global Finals), Amelia Friedman of Hatch, and Ryan Ross of Halcyon.
Flatiron School became a part of WeWork last October. Founded in 2012, Flatiron School has worked to create a new educational model that is accessible, transformative, and delivers fulfilling careers in today’s tech-oriented world. It offers both in-person and online classes.
