In this biweekly series, WeWork’s director of digital community shares five things that she’s enjoying at the moment.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And it’s not just because some song is stuck in my head, which has been alternating between the Fallout 4 soundtrack, the Elf soundtrack, and whatever’s playing in stores.
Next time, I’ll be sharing my top picks in the New Year, so before we leave 2015, here’s what’s on my radar.
1. Deli Manjoo and taiyaki fish-shaped cakes
Not as though you need delicious cookie recommendations this time of year, but these Southern Korean small cakes filled with red bean curd or vanilla cream (with the option of being dipped in chocolate or other frostings) are absolutely delicious and “taiyaki” are also adorably shaped like small fish. It’s worth the trip to midtown Manhattan to find them.
2. The nostalgia train
Yes, this is a real thing here in NYC, where you can ride vintage subway cars to select stops. I was lucky enough to find one. Apparently, this happens more often than you’d think, so keep an eye on the calendar.
3. Jessica Jones on Netflix
I finally finished watching it! Bonus insider hint: Luke Cage’s bar in the series is actually a real bar in Alphabet City in New York called 7B right next to Tompkins Square Park. Looking forward to seeing what’s next for the series.
4. Pee-wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special
It’s not the holidays until you see the special (available now on Netflix as well). Bonus points for the scene with Grace Jones singing. Plus, lots and lots of fruitcake.
5. All of you!
There are so many incredible WeWork members that it’s impossible for me to single out just one as being a favorite from 2015. From members that helped me be able to give great gifts to family and friends to members that provide insight and inspiration, I’m looking forward to seeing what 2016 has in store.
So I hope you all enjoy the rest of the year—and remember, if you have anything you’d like to share with me, you can always reach out at victoria@wework.com. Thanks for reading!
