Many people feel overwhelmed with the volume of skincare products on the market, not confident in selecting the right solutions for their skin, or disappointed by expensive products that don’t deliver results. Almost 9 in 10 women globally (87%) have some level of concern when using a new skincare product, and the majority of Britons stick to familiar beauty products. Recognizing this gap in what is now a £158 billion industry, the team behind Skin + Me saw an opportunity to create a solution that actually helps people achieve their skin goals—once and for all.
In 2018, a group of dermatologists, pharmacists, direct-to-consumer experts, and like-minded entrepreneurs united around a shared mission: to create accessible skincare solutions that help people feel confident in their skin. “We built Skin + Me to make medical skincare—proven through decades of clinical studies to be far more effective than cosmetic products—accessible to everyone,” shares Horatio Cary, co-founder and CEO of Skin + Me.
After much research and development, Skin + Me officially launched in 2020 in the UK and has been delivering skincare results ever since.
Creating the future of personalized skincare
“Whether tackling acne, dark spots, pigmentation, visible pores, fine lines, or uneven skin texture, Skin + Me takes a different approach with truly personalised treatments,” explains Rachel Jones, co-founder of Skin + Me.
Unlike one-size-fits-all beauty solutions, Skin + Me ensures long-term effectiveness by continuously adapting to individual needs. Their expert team of dermatologists designs customer treatment plans that evolve with an individual’s skin, adjusting ingredient strengths and combinations over time.
“Personalised skincare is about giving people combinations of active ingredients that will help them target their specific skin concerns, at concentrations that will work best for their skin, to maximise results and minimise any unwanted side effects,” explains Dr. Jason Thomson, head of medical and consultant dermatologist at Skin + Me.
“This is the future of beauty and skincare—and it’s most definitely here to stay,” he adds.
Achieving better skin, backed by science
For Skin + Me, success means customers feel happy in their skin—and confident in their skincare. Advancements in skincare science, paired with a shift away from conventional beauty solutions, have helped Skin + Me set a new benchmark for skincare. “It’s important for us to innovate and use technology to make our products as best as possible,” says Thomson.
Their innovative mindset led to the launch of one of their most coveted and award-winning solutions: The Daily Doser. Using their unique “twist-and-click” technology, The Daily Doser dispenses the exact amount of solution needed, ensuring that not a drop gets wasted.
To further refine their approach to personalized skincare, Skin + Me has been experimenting with 3D face scanning technology to measure facial surface area, determining the optimal dose for their skincare products. And these advancements don’t come with a high price tag. “At the end of the day, we are making dermatology expertise accessible to everybody,” says Thomson.
Finding a space to better serve their team — and their customers
At their WeWork office, every week starts with a reminder of their impact. The team kicks off Monday meetings by sharing positive customer quotes to keep their mission front and centre. “We come to the office to whip up amazing skincare, brainstorm big ideas that turn into something brilliant (most of the time), and see each other in 3D instead of on a screen,” says Jones.
But they didn’t always have the best space to create.
“Previously, our team spent a lot of time managing logistical challenges, but with WeWork, everything is taken care of, allowing us to focus entirely on our work,” explains Jones.
WeWork’s dynamic breakout areas, thoughtfully designed layouts, and tech-enabled meeting rooms empower the team to foster engagement and inspire innovation more effectively. “Our office space plays a key role in how we collaborate, and WeWork provides the ideal environment for in-person teamwork,” says Jones.
Out with the old, in with the WeWork
Skin + Me officially moved to WeWork in 2024. Transitioning to a WeWork space helped Skin + Me remove the hassle of office management and benefit from hospitality-inspired services to ensure teams have a seamless workday and give them more time to focus on their mission. Their private, full-floor office features a private kitchen and pantry, thoughtfully designed conference rooms, and inviting common areas that encourage teamwork and idea-sharing.
Now, the office is somewhere the team wants to be. “Everyone seems happy, and it’s actually somewhere we look forward to coming to,” Jones adds.
And for Skin + Me, the move represented more than just a new, exciting workspace—it was a milestone. “Now that we’re in WeWork, it shows how much we’ve grown. It has elevated how we feel as a company,” shares Thomson.
Building a dynamic (and fun) workplace
Today, Skin + Me calls the fourth floor of WeWork 2 Eastbourne Terrace in London home—alongside its ever-growing team.
And they make the most of every WeWork perk, big and small. “The office is gorgeous, super central, and getting here is easy for everyone,” says Jones. “The little extras like games and a barista may sound small, but they genuinely make the workday more fun and enjoyable.”
To round off a week of transforming skincare, Skin + Me embraces the signature buzz of a WeWork space. “The Friday afternoon atmosphere is unmatched,” adds Thomson. “From 3pm, beer taps are flowing, and people are playing games—it’s such a fun, relaxed way to end the week. It’s the best dynamic our team has ever had, and we genuinely enjoy spending time together here.”
“The morale boost is real,” says Jones.
